TRAINING AT HAPPY HORSE STABLES - A HAPPY HORSE MAKES A GREAT HORSE!

We offer customized horse training in dressage, for the Basic to Grand Prix horse and rider. We have a limited number of spaces so please contact us to discuss your training needs and to reserve a time that is mutually convenient.

“Dressage” is a French word meaning “training“. Whether you aspire to Olympic jumping or wish to develop a harmonious relationship with your horse for recreational riding, dressage is the foundation of all horse training.” Susanne Vogt, Grand Prix trained, employs a holistic approach, using the building blocks of classical principles in the training of dressage. She realizes the potential and individuality of each horse she trains and develops an all-inclusive program that seeks to improve the balance, power, health and well-being of your horse. What’s more, she is then able to transfer that knowledge to the rider, so that the education of the horse and rider become harmonized.

“If I were to only train the horse, and then return it to the rider, only one of them would be educated”, Susanne notes. The importance of educating both the horse and rider is paramount in the success of the horse-rider team. Susanne is able to do both.

We have ideal facilities to care for your horse during training. We have approx. 20 acre pastures, private turnout and/or box stalls exclusively set up for boarders. Our training facility includes: a round pen, a sand ring (20m x 60m), another sand ring (20m x 40m), our lovely trails (incl. cross country jumping trail) and last but not least; our well groomed 20m x 40m indoor riding arena with heated upper viewing room!

We only take pre-assessed horses and a max of 1 horse at a time. We do not break green horses. Give us a call at 613-802-6464 to find out more.

Testimonial:
After 2 years of little success in the progression of my young horse, I was lucky to have found Susanne Vogt at Happy Horse Stables in Portland, north of Kingston. I have had “trainers” and I have had “coaches” but I finally realized what I needed was both those skills in one person. Someone who would work with me to develop a plan, and educate me and my horse both separately and together. Susanne has educated, safe, school horses who are able to teach me what I need to know, at the same time Susanne works with my horse to raise his level of education. Once my horse and I are both on par with each other, Susanne brings us back together and works with us to maintain that special union I am looking for as a rider. So that I am able to further his training. This is the ideal approach to training both the horse and rider as it sets us up for partnership success. Success through consistency, support and ongoing education. After 5 short weeks of training, my horse and my riding have improved enormously. My horse looks forward to his training and enjoys his work. He is using himself correctly and becoming strong and straight. My confidence has improved as my skills further develop. This is the ultimate situation for both horse and rider. V. B., Elgin

Hi Susanne, I just wanted to let you know that we really appreciate you coming to teach us. We know it is a long way, so we really appreciate the effort and time you put in. We really feel that we have progressed a lot and are on a very good path. I didn’t think we had a chance of getting much further with Foxy, but with your help I feel like the door is open to do much more. See you next weekend - Kate Teeple, Ottawa

Hi Susanne, thank you so much for these lessons. This was a great way to end the season for us...! I am really being totally truthful when I say my horses have never gone better then they are right now and that is thanks to your gentle but careful and precise training methods. For me “going well” means that they are also happy to do the work, further evidence that your methods do not make them sore or cranky. It really is great!Dana Henry, Hemlock Hollow Farm, Canton USA
