DRESSAGE AT HAPPY HORSE STABLES - A HAPPY HORSE MAKES A GREAT HORSE!
|
 |
 |
|
Dressage is an age-old riding tradition that is in harmony with the horse’s natural ability and willingness. Dressage is all about sensitive communication and is very light – like dancing with horses! The equestrian core of Happy Horse Stables is classical dressage, and is centered on Susanne’s considerable knowledge and experience in riding, teaching and training. Susanne, a former dressage competitor at highest levels in Switzerland, was taught by Mr. Georg Wahl, retired Chief trainer of the Spanish Riding School Vienna and longtime trainer of 4 time World- Championship medalist, 5 time Olympic medalist Christine Stueckelberger and Fredy Knie sen. to name just a few.

Susanne enjoys working with students and horses of all levels and aspirations, from Basic to Advanced. She employs a calm, patient and supportive approach rooted in both classical dressage and natural horsemanship. Happy Horse Stables welcomes serious students of dressage at all levels; including beginners, intermediate riders and those riding and/or competing at the highest levels. We have well-trained school horses, of different breeds, and indoor and outdoor riding facilities.
You are welcome to trailer-in your horse for lessons; we can accommodate four boarders in the barn, boarder’s pastures with free-loafing barns, and/or private turnout. In addition, there are limited spaces available for customized horse training, in dressage, at any level.
If you live at some distance, but wish to come to our equestrian centre for a few days or more for lessons, training and/or a holiday with your horse, we can organize accommodation and can build a specialized package to suit your interests.
We are located between Kingston and Ottawa, Smith Falls, Perth and Gananoque. Our facilities include a full size indoor arena, large sand ring (60 x 180’), square sand ring, round pen and miles of lovely trails, incl. some cross country jumping trails. Furthermore, we have direct access to the Cataraqui Trail system.
Call for more information or to book a trial lesson. 613-272-2597 or 613-802-6464.

Hi Susanne, Thanks for fitting me in for a week of private lessons. What amazing progress in such a short time! and, as always, I had a lot of fun. After auditing a number of clinics, I can see that your instruction is of the same caliber as that of Walter Zettl and Paul Belasik. You are on the same page with respect to correct classical riding, careful development of the horse, building exercises for horse and rider so that they can smoothly progress to the next level, and solving horse and/or rider problems. I am lucky to have the benefit of your exacting eye and positive teaching style on a regular basis. All the best! Sharon Carr, Ottawa

Testimonial: I have very much valued our relationship over the past year. As an older rider, new to the sport, and with an initial degree of insecurity around horses, I have truly appreciated your attention to safety and building my confidence. I have to say that I have thoroughly enjoyed this past several weeks of trail rides and lessons and my increasing comfort working around horses, all due to your excellent tutorship and patience. Merry Christmas to you all, Regards, Janet Hall, Westport

Hi Susanne, I just wanted to let you know that we really appreciate you coming to teach us. We know it is a long way, so we really appreciate the effort and time you put in. We really feel that we have progressed a lot and are on a very good path. I didn’t think we had a chance of getting much further with Foxy, but with your help I feel like the door is open to do much more. See you next weekend - Kate Teeple, Ottawa

Hi Susanne, thank you so much for these lessons. This was a great way to end the season for us...! I am really being totally truthful when I say my horses have never gone better then they are right now and that is thanks to your gentle but careful and precise training methods. For me “going well” means that they are also happy to do the work, further evidence that your methods do not make them sore or cranky. It really is great!Dana Henry, Hemlock Hollow Farm, Canton USA
