What will you learn in this ~ 3 hr Level 1 Equine First Aid Workshop ?
You will learn how to recognize the symptoms of sickness or injury in a horse, how to handle each situation accordingly
and to be aware of legal considerations.
Is your horse bleeding profusely? A horse can lose a lot of blood. Find out how much is too much!
Does your horse have a leg injury? Find out whether to apply cold or hot therapy!
Does your horse have a problem with his hooves? Find out how to give first aid treatment for hoof injuries!
What if your horse gets colic? Find out about different types of colic and what to do for each!

Who should take this Level 1 Equine First Aid Workshop?
In short: everyone who has anything to do with horses, whether you are riding, driving, providing care or hosting an event
where horses will participate.
Recreational and professional riders; riding instructors
Horse owners and breeders
Stable managers and owners
Organizers of equestrian events
Organizers of civic events where horses will be present
Emergency Response Teams (e.g. Police, Fire Fighters, Security, etc.)

Where are the Equine First Aid Workshops held?
You can attend workshops at our equestrian facility at Happy Horse Stables, in Portland, or you can host the workshop at your
stable/location.
Workshop format:
Includes lectures, demonstration and practice, as well as time for questions and answers.

Price: $55 (20 years of age and up); $45 (under 20 years of age) for a workshop held at Portland. If you like to organize a
workshop at your barn please inquire for prices.
